No digital FireAlpaca art again today, although I've been trying to work on a birthday present for a furry couple I've known since my early days in the fandom.

Here's my collection of AI art for today:

It took several days to do this since I was distracted by other things, but here's my tribute piece to the late Akira Toriyama, modeled after Empyrea the eagle from Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King. I used the old Imperial Japanese Army flag since the sun is in the center rather than the Navy flag, where it isn't.

Also, I'm super-addicted to AI art, so here's what I've generated in the past few days:

Here's an example of anthro otters in Toriyama's style:

The Legend of Whomper, Book 1The Legend of Whomper, Book 1 by Chris Farrington
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

There have been times when I’ve often gotten burned out on traditional textual literature without illustrations, so I figured I would alternate between reading them and graphical novels like this by Chris Farrington, whom I highly respect as an artist in the furry fandom and had commissioned a few times in the past. The titular fox hero, Vulpie Whomper (who doesn’t look vulpine but is cute nonetheless), has trained for years to master the war hammer and embarks upon quests to prove his worth. Each chapter (one divided into two parts) follows his various trials.

Whomper’s first trial opens with his initiation into the Brotherhood of the Hammer, after which he must visit several secret cities and prove the supremacy of his order’s weapon. A thief curses him with kleptomania, and when he gets the curse lifted, he chases after the culprit following a visible knife symbol (though this is unclear) to deal justice.

His second trial opens with guards of the Bridge to the Sky initially denying him entry, after which he must defeat a monster.

The third has him join Dextrose, a furred warrior whose specific species is unclear and seems somewhere between horse and kangaroo, as they battle slugs tormenting a town.

The fox’s fourth quest sees him seeking a town’s serial killer but ends without the said murderer subdued, Whomper needing to find another way to apprehend him.

In his fifth, he encounters a weasel thief ostracized by his fellow purloiners.

The two-part sixth quest sees him battling the slave-collecting Warmachine, piloted by two members of the vengeful Komodo Clan.

The seventh has him partner with a dragoness named Skyla Thornweaver, who remains with him for the rest of his adventures as they battle a new enemy, Gryzor.

Whomper’s eighth quest sees him and Skyla entering Brotherhood of the Arrow territory and battling pig-men bandits.

His ninth has Skyla kidnapped by a rodent princess, Grisella, whom he must rescue.

The tenth has Whomper going to a raccoon-populated city with a zombie problem, where he confronts Gryzor and the necromancer who created him.

The final chapter concludes the graphic novel with Whomper meeting a goat sage called the Edgemaster, under whom he begins apprenticeship after battling an ancient evil known as Xilix while having a final confrontation with Gryzor.

Overall, I found this a cute and enjoyable graphic novel, with my instincts about giving it a read well justified. While the animal characters are incredibly adorable (even if some of their species are vague, given the artist’s style), it isn’t one hundred percent family-friendly, given some occasional blood, albeit not excessive. Some plot points like that in the first trial seem to come out of nowhere, and the typical grammar and punctuation errors associated with standard comics abound. However, I highly recommend this graphic novel to those in the furry fandom seeking a fun and quick read.

Also, I've decided from now on to upload my AI art, since I've done a ton, in batches to my DeviantArt Stash, since it's a real pain trying to get the links and everything to them on my main gallery, so here's what I've done lately:

https://sta.sh/22c2iouqikbd

A lot of themes in recent days such as the Alamo, a day involving remembering veterans, and Alexander Graham Bell Day today (hence all the furs talking on telephones; I tried to get real old-school wall and candlestick phones, but even Bing Create seems to be alien to those types).

Generated some groundhog/scoutmaster-themed AI art on Bing Image Creator earlier today:

I had used "purple groundhog" in my prompt, but maybe I should have said "purple-furred" instead. I still think they came out cute.

Here's some digital art I did manually for Chinese New Year:

I combined elements from Western and Eastern dragons.

I did this as part of my "Furs across the World" YCH series for a commissioner on FurAffinity and got USD$35 for it. I listened to Anne Murray while doing it. Here's the price sheet again for anyone interested.

I generated the art from Bing Image Creator (I used the prompt "Blanka and Zangief from Street Fighter II fighting Mary Poppins) and added the extras above and below it. Apparently Zangief is wearing Ryu's clothes. Pretty much a satire of Capcom porting, remaking, remastering, and milking the second Street Fighter to death (to the point where it inspired a page on TV Tropes).

A request from a user on DeviantArt, who wanted to see a kangaroo joey character from an episode of the animated series T.O.T.S. being inflated. This was really labor-intensive, so I decided to close requests afterward, and a piece like this would run about $50.

I did this for a fur who celebrated their birthday today. They live in Colombia but this character of theirs is Spanish.

Art Trade Stuff

I did this for a DeviantArt user who wanted to trade with me, of his Maltese black yak character, which I made part of my "Furs Across the World" art series.

In return, I got this.

I also got this for donating to two disabled trans male furries who want to escape their abusive household.

I did this for James Duck, a Colorado-based furry, for his birthday today. He liked it.

Life

My church service today honored the feast of St. Francis, albeit since its rummage sale setup was present, we didn't get to baptize our pets (and I'm certain my parents would have a cow with me taking our cats out by myself), so the reverend gave us scripts and holy water to perform the ceremony at home, and I'll do so with our cats when I get the chance. We had Applebee's for dinner tonight and ate it at home, and I had Sweet Asian Chile Riblets, which were good and spicy, although it was a pain gnawing around the bones in them, and fries and onion rings were my sides. My younger brother Chris requested a shrimp meal, but couldn't make it since he had gotten sick from his recent COVID vaccination, having chosen the Maderna version instead of the Pfizer shot like my parents and I had been getting.

Gaming

Etrian Odyssey II HD

Made it to the fourth floor of the first stratum, and I haven't had any issues doing the sidequests, and can easily take on the FOEs.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2

I can send Blade avatars (or whatever the hell they're actually called in the game) on merc missions, so they now have some use. At some points, it's been a pain trying to get to certain plot points since the in-game maps show all levels of each area on the same maps instead of letting players switch layers and show how they're connected.

I finished Disgaea 1 Complete, and have been touching up an old review of the game sitting on my old game review wiki with Grammarly and some supplemental information.

This was the very first paid YCH commission I did this decade, with the last commissioned art I did being in the previous decade, and luckily, he was an excellent customer.

This is my current price sheet for my Furs Across America YCH, and I'm pretty much open all the time for any kind of furry artwork:

I got my new(ish) 50" television, and it took a little time to get it set up with my consoles and all so that there weren't any horizontal lines down the screen. I look forward to trying it out with my games proper tomorrow. Speaking of which...

Gaming

Diablo II: Resurrected - I got the staff piece from the maggots' lair and have the Horadric Cube so I can mess around with item synthesis. I can start making Super Rejuvenation Potions from all those I have in my stash, but I'm definitely saving them for much later.

Live A Live - Finished the Sundown Kid's storyline, next I'll do Present Day.

Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth - Continuing to slog along in the final (I hope) labyrinth, and have made a little progress in the third floor. Most of the characters' Personas have evolved, but physical and physical elemental skills still miss very, very often. I've also seen bits of Japanese still left in the game during the translation progress, and I remember the first one being rushed in terms of translation as well.

I purchased the full deluxe edition of Fuga: Melodies of Steel and will hopefully transfer my demo data and continue with the full game tomorrow.

I may or may not have mentioned my parents and I taking Nanny's Maine Coon Cat Otis home with us, but he's adjusted well, with our male Siamese Taney (pronounced "tawn-ee", and named after Taneytown, Maryland) seeming to get along decently with him, though he more stalks him than anything else, while our female Siamese Taz wants nothing to do with him.

Kaysho-CHi-P

Did this for an old furry friend on LiveJournal with whom I can't get into communication, so he won't likely see it, anyway, and I did it for fun, mostly.

Some minor progress on the job search front, got a call about an unpaid web developer externship, and was invited to a Discord server, though nothing else has come up in that regard. I got a message on LinkedIn as well from a guy who said he might have a job from Microsoft for me since I noted I was Open to Work on my profile, so we'll see if that leads to anything.

===Gaming===

Fire Emblem Engage - Still stuck on Chapter 25, with the chapter's story battle still kicking my ass, and I've spend loads and loads of time grinding.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC - Made it to Chapter 6, and am doing an escort guild mission that hasn't been problematic.
