Honestly, game fans have made reviews so fucking hard to trust and I say that as someone who legitimately hasn't bought a game that's more recent than 2015 (The Beginner's Guide by the way).

I mean one of the best examples, for something quite recent, is Cyberpunk 2077. A game that was so defended against any and all forms of online scrutiny that a reviewer with photosensitivity issues said "the game gave me a seizure" to which fans responded by sending her flashing light videos because "HOW DARE YOU ATTACK THIS GAME WE LOVE BUT HAVEN'T PLAYED?!" Then the thing came shipped with bugs.

Like...firstly, to this day I haven't heard of any apology from any one gamer being given to said woman (I mean what they did actually qualifies as assault) and secondly there is no change. No reconsidering "hmm...maybe we should wait for games to come out before we decide they're going to be the greatest piece of entertainment on the planet?!" Just a brief moment of being red-faced over the fact that they bought a buggy as hell game and moving onto the next thing.
